Gaston College offers initial and on-going instruction in both curriculum and continuing education EMS programs. The college is located in the beautiful piedmont region of North Carolina, with close proximity to Charlotte, Hickory and other desirable areas.
The candidate will provide quality instruction and monitor teaching/learning effectiveness in courses assigned by the EMS Education Program Director in which the instructor has appropriate qualifications. Use current skills and knowledge to promote student engagement in teaching and learning in EMT classes and Paramedic classes.
The position of faculty member (full-time) is a demanding one that involves delivery of instruction; preparation and evaluation of such instruction; accessibility to students; committee assignments; and service to college and community. Teach day and evening classes at multiple instruction sites as required.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:
Five years’ experience as a certified EMT Paramedic required.
Three years’ EMS clinical experience in the field and/or college-level EMS teaching experience preferred.
EMS teaching experience at a community college preferred.
Experience in EMS Service leadership, management, and/or supervision preferred.
MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution in Emergency Medical Science or related field required.
Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution preferred.
Must be a current North Carolina Paramedic.
Current National Registered Paramedic Credential preferred.
EMS Instructor Level I Credential from the North Carolina Office of EMS required or obtain in 12 months after hire; Level II Credential preferred.
Must meet minimum SACS criteria and the minimum criteria of other pertinent accrediting, licensing, and credentialing agencies in the area of teaching assignment.
