Job Summary
This position provides basic and advanced life support care and transportation in emergency and non-emergency situations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provides medical care and support to citizens and visitors of Lincoln County during emergency and non-emergency situations
• Safely operates assigned emergency response vehicles and/or Quick Response Vehicles (QRV).
• Assesses patients to determine the nature and extent of illness or injury and establishes appropriate treatment priorities.
• Administers advanced life support including airway management, cardiac monitoring, defibrillation, IV therapy, medication administration, and other procedures appropriate to certification level.
• Utilizes medical equipment such as EKG monitors, defibrillators, oxygen delivery systems, suction devices, and other related equipment.
• Completes electronic patient care reports (ePCR) accurately and in a timely manner.
• Ensures proper function and stocking of assigned units and monitors supplies for expiration.
• Cleans and decontaminates equipment and vehicles following calls.
• Maintains station cleanliness and order.
• Provides medical coverage for special events as assigned.
• Attends all continuing education to maintain required certifications.
• Complies with all applicable OSHA, HIPAA, Medicare/Medicaid, and departmental regulations.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED.
• One (1) to three (3) years of relevant EMS experience preferred.
• Valid North Carolina Driver’s License.
• Current NC OEMS Paramedic certificate or eligible for reciprocity

• CEVO-4 or higher

Pay Range
Lincoln County utilizes a tiered Paramedic classification system based on certifications, education, and professional development:
• Paramedic I: $26.70 – $30.00 per hour
o NCOEMS Paramedic
• Paramedic II: $32.00 – $33.50 per hour
o National Registry – Paramedic or
o College degree
• Paramedic III: $35.50 – $37.00 per hour
o National Registry – Paramedic and
o College degree and
o NCOEMS Level I ALS Instructor or
o UNCC EMS Management Institute or
o EMS Officer II
• Paramedic IV: $39.00 – $40.50 per hour
o National Registry – Paramedic and
o Bachelor’s degree and
o UNCC EMS Management Institute and
o EMS Officer II Series or
o NCOEMS Level II ALS Instructor and
o UNCC EMS Management Institute
Shift Differential:
An additional $2.00 per hour shift differential applies to night shift
