The purpose of this position is to develop and deliver training programs for Alamance County EMS personnel to ensure clinical competence, regulatory compliance, and high-quality patient care. The role supports employee development, maintains certification standards, and promotes consistent, professional practices aligned with departmental policies and Medical Director guidelines.
Ensures employee advancement through training and development programs and delivers consistent, professional training to all Alamance County EMS employees. Instructs and coordinates emergency medical services continuing education as required by the Department of Transportation and the North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services for credential renewal of Emergency Medical Technician, Advanced Emergency Medical Technician, and Paramedic. Prepares monthly in-class and on-duty training and works with the EMS Quality Manager to design just-in-time training to correct individual or service-wide deficiencies.
Job Requirements include: Associate’s degree in Emergency Medical Services or a related field, or the ability to obtain within one year of employment; Bachelor’s degree preferred. Minimum of seven (7) years of experience as a paramedic-level provider. Certification by the State of North Carolina as a Paramedic. NC EMS Level I Paramedic Instructor certification or ability to obtain within one year of employment; Level II Instructor preferred and required within five (5) years. Experience working in or developing/supervising a Field Training Officer (FTO) program. Ability to obtain ACLS, PALS, and CPR Instructor certifications within one year of employment. Valid North Carolina driver’s license. Physical ability to perform the duties of a paramedic on a two-person ambulance or single-provider quick response vehicle.
