Community Paramedic (Yadkin County Emergency Services)

Supervises: patients assigned to them in their Community Paramedic case load.

Salary Range: $49,761 – $74,642. Salary is based on years of experience, education, and other qualifying certificate courses.

Work Schedule: 8 hours shifts: 8am – 5pm (40 hours a week)

Essential Job Functions

Under general supervision, this person will work closely with County Health Officials in identifying persons that are or
may have a need for specialized in home assessments. They will then with the assistance of the County Health Officials
make arrangements to visit these patients that may need assistance and minor medical treatment but are not able to
seek medical attention by other means. During these visits the Community Paramedic will conduct an evaluation of the
patient’s condition and aid the patient in making a decision of their continued improvement or if their condition worsens
to seek a higher level of care. This person will have some duties in training the general public in the area of infectious
diseases, safety, and prevention. This position will also require the ability to function as a paramedic on board a Yadkin
County ALS Ambulance or QRV in times of high call volume or disaster.

Education and Experience
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Paramedic Certification by the North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services.
• Minimum of three years’ experience as a full-time paramedic, or the ability to demonstrate the competencies of
a three-year paramedic.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Must have excellent working knowledge of Yadkin County’s Personnel Policies and the Emergency Services
SOG’s.
• AHA CPR.
• NIMS 100, 200, 700, and 800 within one year of hire.
• Preferred: Associates Degree or higher, AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support, AHA Pediatric Advanced Life
Support, International Trauma Life Support or equivalent, National Registry-Paramedic, Bilingual (Spanish),

Hours of work 8-hour shifts with some night and weekend shifts.

• Physical Requirements: Able to perform frequent walking, standing,
lifting and carrying objects of light to heavy weight (5-100+ pounds).
Physical agility and fitness for performing duties that require potential
exertion (moving victims, climbing ladders, etc.). Must have a high level
of eye/hand/foot coordination.
• Communication: Able to convey or exchange information, both giving
and receiving instructions, assignments and/or directions. Able to
communicate with people of varying backgrounds and establish good
working relationships with citizens, coworkers, other departments and
supervisor. Must have good knowledge of radio communication.
• Able to work in adverse environmental conditions (dirt, cold, rain, etc.)
• Knowledge of modern principles, methods and equipment for an
efficient and effective Emergency Medical Service, and Emergency
Management System, as well as all laws, statutes, ordinances, codes,
standards, rules and regulations pertaining to this area.
• Able to work effectively under stressful conditions, quickly and
objectively analyze emergency situations, respond appropriately and
maintain composure.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, and other computer programs used
by Yadkin County Emergency Services.
