Central Piedmont Community College is hosting an Initial Emergency Medical Technician course on our Levine Campus, beginning on January 7th and ending May 10th. The class will meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00pm to 10:00pm with some Saturdays from 9:00am to 6:00pm. Per the North Carolina Office of EMS, students must meet the following minimum requirements in order to enroll in the course:
1. Must be 17 years of age on or before the official end date of the course.
2. Must be in possession of a high school diploma, high school equivalency or successful completion of an exam assessing basic
reading comprehension skills at a minimum at the eleventh-grade level.
This course introduces basic emergency medical care. Topics include preparatory objectives, airway management, patient assessment, medical emergencies, trauma care, special populations, and operations. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve North Carolina State and/or National Registry EMT certification.
