We are currently hiring for the position of full-time paramedic. You must have a current paramedic certification or ability to obtain reciprocity. We offer competitive pay based on years of experience, health, vision and dental insurance, 401K and NC State Retirement.
Davidson County operates an Advance Life Support System that runs 911 calls only. We have 8 EMS bases and a fleet of 11 EMS units and two QRV’s during the day and 10 units and two QRV’s at night. Shifts are 12 hours, from 7 am to 7 pm (day) and 7 pm to 7 am at night. There are two work patterns (A/D) (B/C), and they operate on a 12-hour Pittman Schedule, giving an employee a three-day weekend, every other week.
Davidson County has a population of 168,930 as of 2020 census and is a rapidly growing community. We have a call volume of 35,000 + in 2024 with expectation of reaching 40,000 by the end of the year. With this growth, we are planning to add an additional EMS base in the upcoming year.
Davidson County EMS is a progressive service, giving employees the latest innovation in equipment such as Stryker Power Load Stretchers, Stryker Power Stair Chairs, LUCAS chest compression devices, and have been approved to purchase the new Life Pack 35 cardiac monitors.
