Job Summary
The Director, Emergency Medical Programs, under the supervision of the Dean of Health and Public Services, provides strategic leadership for EMS education programs, ensuring quality instruction, compliance with regulatory bodies, and alignment with community workforce needs. The Director oversees curriculum development, staff supervision, clinical partnerships, and accreditation processes while fostering student success and innovation within EMS training.
Hiring Range – Minimum to Midpoint ($4,175 – 5,218/monthly)

Program Leadership and Compliance
· Provide leadership and oversight for EMS programs, ensuring alignment with North Carolina Office of EMS (NCOEMS) and CoAEMSP accreditation standards.
· Maintain program accreditation through regular review and updates to curriculum, instructional practices, and compliance documentation.
· Ensure programs meet local, state, and federal regulations governing emergency medical services education.
Instructional and Faculty Oversight
· Supervise full-time and adjunct instructional staff, including hiring, mentoring, and conducting evaluations.
· Support curriculum development and instructional delivery that incorporates current EMS standards and simulation-based learning.
Student Success and Clinical Coordination
· Serve as academic advisor to EMS students, supporting retention, academic progress, and successful program completion.
· Coordinate with clinical sites and the Medical Director to ensure student access to quality clinical experiences.
Strategic Planning and Community Engagement
· Establish partnerships with local EMS agencies and participate in advisory boards to align programs with workforce needs.
· Represent the College in regional and state meetings, promoting EMS education and fostering external collaboration.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position directly supervises EMS instructional staff including full-time and adjunct faculty, clinical coordinators, and support personnel. The Director collaborates with external agencies, the Medical Director, and accrediting bodies to ensure effective program delivery.
Work Environment
Work is primarily performed in classrooms, labs, and clinical settings. The position requires travel between sites and occasional exposure to training-related hazards. Use of personal protective equipment may be required in instructional environments.
Physical Demands
· Frequently operate a computer and instructional technology equipment.
· Lift up to 50 lbs. of equipment or training materials occasionally.
· Stand or walk for extended periods during instruction and clinical visits.
· Travel regularly for site visits, meetings, and professional development.
Travel Required
Regular travel to affiliated hospitals, EMS agencies, and clinical sites is required. Occasional in-state and out-of-state travel may be necessary for conferences and training.
Experience and Training Requirements
Required:
· Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Medical Care or closely related field.
· North Carolina Level II Paramedic Instructor certification and current EMT-Paramedic license.
· Valid BCLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
Preferred Qualifications
· Master’s degree in EMS or a related field.
· Instructor certifications in BCLS, ACLS, and PALS.
· Experience in EMS accreditation and curriculum development.
· Experience with grant writing and funding strategies.
