EMS Clinical Coordinator/Instructor-Central Carolina Community College

The Clinical Coordinator for EMS is responsible for the planning, delivery, and evaluation of classroom, laboratory, and/or clinical instruction and providing those related services and support activities required for optimal student learning and effective educational programming. The Clinical Coordinator is also responsible for planning, implementing, coordinating, evaluating, and supervising all clinical practicum activities for the EMS Program. The Clinical Coordinator will also teach an appropriate instructional course load. Reports to the EMS Program Director.

Salary depends on education and experience.
Certificate salary range: $57,493 – $68,244
Associate Degree salary range: $58,293 – $68,244
Bachelor’s Degree salary range: $61,761 – $72,229

This position may have occasional travel between campuses and for training. Occasional after hours may be required.
This position requires face to face teaching.

Essential Duties
Embrace the institutional goals of Central Carolina Community College (CCCC) by engaging students as full partners in the learning process, removing barriers to student progression in the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program, and supporting and assisting students in achieving their educational goals.
Use teaching methodology incorporating EMS concepts in a dynamic instructional environment that promotes a positive and interactive learning experience for all students.
Provide students with adequate attention and instruction to acquire the knowledge needed to demonstrate CoAEMSP program goals and learning domains at the appropriate Bloom’s Taxonomy level required for program graduation.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the changes in the healthcare industry related to EMS; create new courses and modify existing courses when appropriate to keep current with new protocols, rules, and regulations.
Participate in activities required to maintain program and college accreditation standards when needed.
Work 38.5 hours per week and post and hold the required office hours.
Teach 16-20 contact hours weekly in the classroom and laboratory.
Prepare and administer proficiency examinations (written and skills) as directed by the lead instructor/program coordinator/program director.
Assist the lead instructor/program coordinator/program director in continuously evaluating course objectives, course syllabus, course competencies, and teaching strategies in the specific curriculum to ascertain that they are appropriate and relevant.
Keep the lead instructor/program coordinator/program director informed of curriculum matters.
Obtain Blackboard (Bb) Ultra training and maintain a Bb course site for each course taught during the semester.
Maintain a grade roster on paper or within Bb for each course taught during the semester, completing grades according to the CCCC policy and procedures manual.
Maintain attendance weekly in Self-Service for each class taught each semester.
Notify the supervisor when planning to be off campus (on office days) except for breaks and lunch.
Be the primary advocate and assist the lead instructor/program coordinator/program director in marketing, recruiting, orienting, registering, and retaining students for the specific curriculum.
Maintain professional relationships with business, industry, and professional agencies relevant to the department.
Perform the duties of EMT and Paramedic clinical coordinator.
Assist in identifying and recruiting facilities willing to host students for their clinical/field experience and field internship activities.
Initiate clinical contracts.
Coordinate all student’s clinical rotation objectives.
Maintain open lines of communication with clinical site preceptors.
Maintain paperwork associated with individual student clinical experiences.
Complete the five-hour staff development requirement annually.
Submit records and forms in a timely fashion as required in the policy and procedures manual.
Assist the lead instructor/program coordinator/program director in working with and maintaining an active program advisory committee that meets at least once per year and in preparing and submitting minutes of those meetings.
Actively participate in professional organizations.
Maintain current industry licensure and credentials, including earning annual CME/CEUs.
Coordinate EMS continuing education and in-service training in Harnett, Lee, and Chatham counties.
Cultivate and maintain cooperative educational relationships with Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine.
Be responsible for and perform other such duties as may be assigned.

Minimum Requirements
Required educational background:

Paramedic Certificate

Required kind and number of years of work experience:

Three (3) year’s EMS experience at paramedic level of certification, AND
Two (2) year’s post-secondary instructor experience.
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Knowledge of course content, all pre-hospital equipment; and ambulance operations.
Ability to travel to all college service areas.
Must be proficient in all skills required for the class being taught with the ability to teach skills to others.
Must meet NCOEMS credentialing guidelines.
Required license or certificate:

NC Level I EMT-P Instructor, or ability to obtain within 90-days of hire.

Preferred Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or higher

NC Level II EMT-P Instructor, or ability to obtain within 90-days of hire.

National Registry of EMTs (NRP)

EVD Instructor, Haz-Mat Instructor

NAEMT Instructor (all disciplines, incl: EPC, GEMS, EVOS, PHTLS/ITLS, AMLS)

AHA Instructor (all disciplines, incl: BLS, ACLS, PALS)
