EMS Instructor Methodology Online at Alamance Community College

The purpose of this course is to provide students who are clinically competent in a specific EMS content area with the instructional knowledge, resources, and skills to effectively deliver quality EMS education. The course presents educational concepts, practices and resources across a wide range of educational topics, from the basic psychology of learning to classroom management, to ethical issues in education, to students and course evaluation, and represents consensus among professional EMS educators as an essential knowledge, skills and practices required to provide quality EMS educational programs.

Prerequisite
1. High School diploma or GED and able read at the 11th grade level
2. Currently credentialed in NC as an EMT, EMD, AEMT or Paramedic

METHODS OF INSTRUCTION
This EMS Instructor Methodology course is a 65-hour course that is delivered in a 100% virtual format. Students will have assignments to complete through Moodle each week that will be due on Sunday evenings at 11pm and there will be two required videos to complete as part of the NC OEMS course requirements. The first is a 15-minute skills instruction video and the second is a 45-minute lecture presentation video. Both videos will be submitted for feedback and grading. Each week online hours will vary as the schedule will reflect. Please note that this course will be competency based and students will be allowed to complete
the course as soon as all required lessons and assignments have been done.
