EMS Instructor – Piedmont Community College

Description
The purpose of this position is to provide instruction in the EMS continuing education and curriculum programs. The EMS Instructor will play a pivotal role in preparing our students for success in the field, providing instruction to students with a faculty workload consistent with full time instructor expectations.

Examples of Duties
Essential Duties
• Facilitate the learning process by designing and implementing appropriate, meaningful instructional activities.
• Adhere to departmental course guidelines and ensure that content covers approved competencies.
• Request supplies and materials for courses and recommend appropriate equipment or technology.
• Maintain required college records and records for required governing bodies including (but not limited to)
attendance, grades, and learning outcomes.
• Evaluate student performance and learning outcomes using methods appropriate to the courses.
• Participate in data gathering, interpretation, and evaluation activities.
• Provide assistance to advisees and maintain proficiency in program requirements of advisees.
• Adhere to all institutional policies and procedures.
• Maintain current licensure, certification, or other professional credentials required for the position
• Maintain clinical compliance according to accrediting body recommendations and requirements.
• Schedule EMS student clinical rotations with contracted agencies and facilities.
• Conduct clinical site visits
• Track student lab skills and clinical rotations in clinical documentation software.
• Ensure accurate documentation of student laboratory and clinical experiences.
• Maintain lab and equipment.
• Train preceptors in accordance with accrediting body recommendations and requirements
• Serve on College committees and task forces as assigned.
• Maintain lab, supplies and equipment.
• Attend required campus events including graduation, convocation, professional development, & employee meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Typical Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Associate’s degree in Emergency Medical Science required. Bachelor’s degree or higher is preferred.
Licenses and Certificates:

NCOEMS Level I instructor credentials, Level II preferred.
NC Paramedic Certification required with National Registry (NRP) preferred.
ACLS, PALS, AMLS, ITLS, CPR certifications required, instructor credentials preferred.
