Essential Duties—Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Effectively coordinate and oversee clinical rotations for EMS students within the curriculum and continuing education programs, ensuring optimal placement and scheduling alignment with program requirements.
Guarantee strict adherence to the standards outlined by accreditation bodies and affiliation agreements.
Ensure students are scheduled for and complete the required experiences before participating in the psychomotor examinations.
Develop or use appropriate evaluation forms and evaluate student performance or clinical and field internship experiences.
Review and provide feedback to students on patient evaluation write-ups
Oversee institution-trained field internship preceptors ensure a standard and consistent evaluation of student achievement of skills and course completion.
Maintain documentation of the Director’s approval for clinical preceptors.
Maintain the documentation of orientation for clinical preceptors to the clinical objectives and scope of practice of students.
Maintain documentation demonstrating the student’s achievement of all clinical and field internship objectives.
Collect, review, and maintain student clinical documents and records, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory standards.
Administer and manage third-party software systems necessary for requesting clinical units, assigning students, and submitting essential documentation to meet the standards set by clinical affiliates. Provide support and training to faculty and students on using these systems.
Address issues and concerns related to clinical rotations. Collaborate with department leadership to identify solutions and implement improvements as needed.
Maintain accurate records and calendars regarding student time, clinical education activities, and compliance metrics. Provide regular updates to department leadership on the status of clinical educational initiatives.
Attend workshops, conferences, and meetings related to assigned areas of responsibility.
Assist faculty with course instruction when schedule allows.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
An Associate’s degree in EMS or related field, NC Paramedic Certification
Three years of increasingly responsible experience in EMS at the Paramedic level of certification and;
Two years of post-secondary instructor experience.
Preferred Requirements
Teaching experience at the community college or four-year college. Online teaching experience.
Bachelor’s degree in EMS or associated field, Level I NC Paramedic Instructor
