Halifax County EMS – Paramedic (24 Hr.)

Halifax County EMS currently seeking Paramedics to join our team. We currently operate 6 Paramedic Level Ambulance and 1 Response QRV on a 24/72 schedule. Additionally, 2 peak-hour crew cover high call-volume districts either working 0700-1900 or 1900-0700 hours. Field Supervisors (and administrative personnel, including Emergency Services Director, EMS Manager, and EMS Training Officer) have QRVs for responding to high acuity calls. Our system utilizes Zoll X-series Monitor, Auto-Pulse Devices on all Ambulances, the HandTevy Pediatric System, and Stryker Power Stretchers (newer ambulances utilize Stryker Powerload System). We have 6 stations that serve 780 square-miles of Halifax County and 135 square miles of Warren County. Paramedics can experience rural transport times in outlying stations to higher call volume, short transport times at our Roanoke Rapids Station. Air Medical Transport is routinely utilized for major trauma calls in outlying areas. Our system averages 13,000+ calls per year. Halifax County EMS provides in-house continuing education.

Description:

This position is responsible for responding to emergency calls, at the paramedic level, to determine the extent of illness or injury and establishing priorities for required care; performing emergency medical care in accordance with established guidelines and written and verbal instructions from physicians. Other duties include administering medications and IV solutions and inserting airways; transporting persons to the appropriate medical facilities; and performing related tasks as required.

Requirements:
High school diploma or GED and completion of NC Office of EMS approved training program. Possession of North Carolina Paramedic credential. Obtain CIT training and NIMS 100, 200, 700 and 800 certifications within six months of hire. Valid driver’s license in the State of North Carolina. This is a 24-hour position. Please provide a photocopy of all certifications.

Compensation:
The hiring range for this position is $42,435 – $53,729. Halifax County provides a comprehensive employee benefits package, including membership in the N.C. Local Government Employees’ Retirement System. (Hiring Range does not include built-in-overtime for 24 hour shift, holiday pay, performance pay, and paid continuing education.)
