Course Title: Paramedic Certificate Program – Hybrid (Flip/Flop Schedule)

Course Description:
This hybrid Paramedic course, broken in to 4 modules, is designed to accommodate working EMTs with a shift-friendly “flip/flop” schedule. Students are required to attend one in-person session per week, selecting either Tuesday or Thursday from 0800 to 1700. In addition to the weekly in-person component, this course includes extensive online content and independent learning activities. The curriculum meets the educational requirements necessary for eligibility to test for National Registry Paramedic certification and North Carolina Paramedic credentialing.
Schedule Format:
One in-person day per week: Tuesday or Thursday (0800–1700)
Extensive online coursework and assignments are required outside of class hours.
Prerequisites:
All prospective students must contact the Director of EMS prior to registration to review eligibility and prerequisites. Admission to the course requires the following:
1. Possession of a valid and active North Carolina EMT Credential
2. High school diploma or equivalent
3. Successful completion of college-level English, or within the previous 12 months complete a written assessment placing the individual into college-level English.
4. Successful completion of college-level Math, or within the previous 12 months complete a written assessment placing the individual into college-level Math.
Anatomy & Physiology (A&P) is required:
May be completed before or during the course, but must be finished prior to the start of Module II

Placement Testing Information:
Placement testing for English and Math is available free of charge at the Academic Studies Center, Hurst Continuing Education Building, Room 200. No appointment is required, but a photo ID is necessary. Testing Hours: Monday – Wednesday, 7:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

A&P ONLINE Course Offering:
Coastal Carolina Community College will offer an online EMS 3163 – Anatomy & Physiology course from June 2 to August 31, 2025. This course fulfills the A&P requirement for the Paramedic program. Students interested in this offering should contact the Continuing Education Office to register. 910.938.6294
