IBSC Mobile Integrated Health Care Course

Description: Forsyth Technical Community College EMS Program is offering an IBSC accredited, fully online Community Paramedic course. This course is created to help students prepare for the IBSC exam and will also include regional specialty topics and input from subject matter experts. This course is designed to help EMS providers expand their knowledge and awareness about preventive health care interventions, chronic disease management, incorporating telehealth, and long-term patient relationship building. Students will learn about how Community Paramedics can be utilized in various healthcare settings to improve patient access to care and to learn skills that can be used to shift complex patients towards self-management and away from acute care settings. Students will evaluate community health assessments and learn how to incorporate health data into their programs. They will also be able to describe different funding models for programs in the North Carolina landscape and will be able to conduct patient care visits with preventive health care tools and skills.

Observation Opportunity: Students will also have the option to participate in an 8-hour shift that will allow them to observe active Community Paramedic programs in the region. Observation sites include Stokes County EMS, Forsyth County EMS, or Atrium Wake Forest Health.
