Lead EMT Instructor (Full-Time) – Forsyth Technical Community College

Forsyth Technical Community College seeks a dedicated and passionate full-time lead EMT Instructor to join our EMS education team. Under the supervision of the EMS Program Director and EMS Program Coordinator, the EMT Instructor will be responsible for delivering high-quality didactic and laboratory instruction for Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) courses. The EMT instructor will also assist our other full-time instructors in teaching Advanced EMT (AEMT) and Paramedic courses when available. Instruction will be conducted within both curriculum-based and continuing education programs in accordance with the North Carolina Office of EMS (NC OEMS) and Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP) guidelines. The EMT Instructor is expected to also work with local community partners in EMS and Fire services and may teach at multiple locations within Forsyth and Stokes Counties.

Minimum Qualifications:
Current North Carolina Paramedic credential in good standing with NC OEMS.
Level I EMT Instructor certification through NC OEMS (or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire).
Associate degree in EMS or a related field from an accredited institution (must obtain a bachelor’s degree in EMS or related field within 3 years for employment).
At least 3 years of active EMS field experience (education may substitute for years of experience).
EMS Vehicle Operator Safety (EVOS) Instructor or equivalent course approved by NC OEMS (or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire).
Strong knowledge of EMS education requirements and current practices.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and other relevant software platforms.
Ability to work effectively in a diverse educational environment.

Preferred Qualifications
Level II Paramedic Instructor certification.
Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited institution.
AHA Instructor credentials in BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
EMS Vehicle Operator Safety (EVOS) Instructor or equivalent course approved by NC OEMS.
Successful teaching or training experience in EMS or related fields.
Familiarity with EMS testing software (e.g., EMS Testing, Platinum Planner).
Experience with Blackboard or other learning management systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach classes as assigned by EMS Program Director and EMS Coordinator.
Deliver instructional activities that are both appropriate and meaningful.
Adhere to departmental course guidelines and cover SACSCOC approved competencies.
Serve as the main contact for adjunct instructors for EMT courses
Work with adjunct instructors to ensure course closeouts and proper record keeping and documentation
Prepare course outlines, objectives, and lab activities.
Evaluate student performance and maintain all required records.
Maintain communication with community partner agencies.
Promote the college and the department through public relations opportunities.
Update course descriptions, objectives, and develop new courses, as necessary.
Assist in the development and evaluation of EMS programs.
Maintain current professional credentials and participate in ongoing professional development.
Assist students with program requirements and participate in college-wide advising activities.
Other duties as assigned by the Dean, EMS Program Director, and EMS Program Coordinator.

Associate’s Degree: $58,296
Bachelor’s Degree: $61,765
Master’s Degree: $64,848
Doctorate: $69,276
For candidates with at least five years of teaching experience, estimated salaries are as follows:
Associate’s Degree: $63,168
Bachelor’s Degree: $66,924
Master’s Degree: $70,260
Doctorate: $75,060
