Job Overview:
Hyde County Emergency Services is seeking a skilled and dedicated Paramedic to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for serving rural and remote communities and possess the expertise to deliver high-quality pre-hospital emergency care. The Paramedic will respond to emergency calls, assist with patient assessment and treatment, and support disaster response efforts in the county.

Key Responsibilities:
Respond to emergency medical calls, providing advanced pre-hospital care to patients.
Assist in patient assessment, treatment, and transport to appropriate medical facilities.
Operate emergency vehicles and equipment safely and efficiently.
Maintain accurate patient care records, including documentation of assessments, treatments, and transport.
Participate in disaster response efforts and mutual aid situations when needed.
Collaborate with other EMS personnel, law enforcement, and fire departments to provide comprehensive emergency response.
Maintain EMS certifications and complete required continuing education.
Serve on Ocracoke Island as needed, working with ferry services or aircraft for patient transport.
Qualifications:
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Current North Carolina Paramedic certification
Valid North Carolina driver’s license.
Ability to work in a physically demanding and sometimes stressful environment.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
Availability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred:
Previous experience as an Paramedic, particularly in rural or island EMS operations.
Knowledge of Hyde County’s geography, including terrain and ferry routes to Ocracoke Island.
CPR and other emergency care certifications.
Additional Information:
The position will involve travel by ferry to Ocracoke Island, requiring flexibility and the ability to adapt to varying conditions.
Candidates must be prepared to work in all weather conditions and provide EMS services in difficult-to-access locations.
