Job Description Summary
Responsible for training of EMS personnel, verify training and records and meets the requirements of North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services and North Carolina Department of Insurance. Under the supervision of the Corporate Director of EMS and Medical Director, develops, implements, and coordinates training programs and activities. Develops and administers Cumberland County System Training Program and Quality Assurance Program to comply state and local protocol. Coordinates with Education Department to comply with CFVHS educational requirements.

Job Description
REQUIRED

Associates degree in Emergency Medical Science or equivalency
Current certification by the State of North Carolina as a Level I Paramedic Instructor
Current NC Paramedic certification.
Current certification in International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) as sponsored by the Academy of Emergency Physicians or equivalent.
Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Current certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Current certification by the North Carolina Fire and Rescue Commission as an Emergency Vehicle Driver (EVD) or equivalent.
Certificate of completion of the North Carolina Fire and Rescue Commission’s Hazardous Materials Awareness course or equivalent.
Certificates of completion of National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses 100, 200 and 700. Completion of NIMS 300 and 400 within (1) year
Valid North Carolina Driver’s License or equivalent with five (5) years licensed driving experience in North Carolina, or the equivalent (licensed in other state).
Minimum 5 years’ experience as a paramedic
Minimum 5 years teaching experience with EMS related programs
Driving record check with law enforcement agency required
Must possess and maintain a current North Carolina driver’s license or and acceptable driving record.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Thorough working knowledge of emergency medical procedures, rescue techniques, hazardous materials incidents, equipment and supplies employed in pre-hospital care, and of communications equipment used. Thorough working knowledge of locations in Hoke County and the cities and locations contained therein, especially major streets, landmarks, rest homes, convalescence care centers and nursing homes. This knowledge being obtained within six months of employment. Ability to work calmly under extremely stressful conditions and follow established rules, procedures and protocols. Ability to deal with patients, their families and others in a courteous, compassionate, professional manner under the most adverse circumstances and an ability to maintain an effective working relationship with co-workers and other emergency and health care personnel. Ability to drive all types of ambulance vehicles and a thorough knowledge of safe driving procedures used in the response of emergency vehicles. Ability to lift and move a minimum of one hundred pounds (100 lbs) on a regular basis with the added strength to lift upwards of 150 lbs. When the situation requires, including moving a patient from a bed to the floor, chair to the floor, or from a stretcher to a bed. Is knowledgeable of the age specific physiological, psychosocial, developmental, and spiritual needs of the patients typically served.
