The Town of Newport Fire Department is currently accepting applications for 2 full-time Paramedic/Firefighters. Successful candidate will work a 48/96 shift schedule. Our department covers seventy-five square miles of response area composed of rural and suburban districts. Shift personnel cross-staff fire apparatus and ALS transport units with a steadily increasing call volume, answering over 2300 calls for service in 2023.

Minimum Qualifications:

– High school diploma or equivalent
– Valid NC Driver’s License
– NC Paramedic
– ACLS, PALS, BLS, PHTLS
– NC Firefighter I&II with HAZMAT Ops

Applicants must be physically capable of carrying out the duties associated with EMS and training as a NC Firefighter. Successful candidates will be required to pass boarding with the Carteret County Medical Director, prior to the first assigned shift day.
Total Compensation, after probation, on a 48/96 schedule is up to $84,637 per year. The compensation package includes scheduled hours, scheduled overtime, paid employee health benefits – including a $1000.00 annual HSA card for co-pays, NC Retirement, and 5% 401K contribution. We offer holiday pay, competitive sick/vacation accrual rates, and paid department sponsored training (as funds are available), as well as the annual NCSFA relief fund membership.
