Ambulances and Quick Response Vehicles (QRVs) are a large component of North Carolina’s EMS framework. Ensuring these vehicles remain safe and adequately equipped to provide emergency care and transportation to all North Carolina residents and visitors is the primary focus of the OEMS Logistics Unit. The Logistics Unit is responsible for the inspection and permitting of EMS vehicles, both transport and non-transport, that operate on the streets or highways, waterways, and airways of North Carolina. Logistics Specialists, who are assigned to regional offices across the state, also provide technical assistance to EMS agencies and stakeholders with vehicle-related issues and concerns to ensure compliance with North Carolina regulations and standards.
